Last year Laura posted this for Valentine’s Day at Pick Me! Now, I continue the tradition. Maybe by now I even have a boyfriend. ;)

Thank You

I often have theme songs for the year. I haven’t chosen one this year, this song is in the running.

Thank You by Alanis Morissette

Lyrics
How ’bout getting off of these antibiotics
How ’bout stopping eating when I’m full up
How ’bout them transparent dangling carrots
How ’bout that ever elusive kudo

Thank you India
Thank you terror
Thank you disillusionment
Thank you frailty
Thank you consequence
Thank you thank you silence

How bout me not blaming you for everything
How bout me enjoying the moment for once
How bout how good it feels to finally forgive you
How bout grieving it all one at a time

Thank you India
Thank you terror
Thank you disillusionment
Thank you frailty
Thank you consequence
Thank you thank you silence

The moment I let go of it was
The moment I got more than I could handle
The moment I jumped off of it
Was the moment I touched down

How ’bout no longer being masochistic
How ’bout remembering your divinity
How ’bout unabashedly bawling your eyes out
How ’bout not equating death with stopping

Thank you India
Thank you providence
Thank you disillusionment
Thank you nothingness
Thank you clarity
Thank you thank you silence

yeah yeah
ahh ohhh
ahhh ho oh
ahhh ho ohhhhhh
yeaahhhh yeahh

Positive Music to encourage you on this (hopefully) positive day.

I like this song. I found the lyrics odd when I actually listened to them (“macrame”?), but I love the chorus. “There ARE gonna be some changes made! G*d Dammit!”
Nice song, Bruce Hornsby.

My changes:

  • Exercising every week day morning. It is KICKING my butt. But I also love it.
  • Being nice to myself. I wish you could hear the force behind that sentence. I’m so sick of putting myself down and feeling bad about myself. Forget it! That includes thinking I should be different and trying to get people to like me. That is so humiliating when you really think about it. No more contorting for approval. No more putting myself down.

There’s gonna be some changes made.

And now that we’ve made those changes, it IS going to be a Beautiful Day. Thanks, U2. :)
