DROPPING KEYS
The small man
Builds cages for everyone
He
Knows.
While the sage,
Who has to duck his head while the moon is low,
Keeps dropping keys all night long
For the
Beautiful
Rowdy
Prisoners.

My thankfulness is a circle of thanks
With outer edges extending
My blue skies touch
Another’s pain
My bed of flowers
Touches the same earth
They huddle near
In terror
As bombs drop
And lives change

And fragile bodies
Are torn apart.
