A great place to find…

  1. Uplifting music, lyrics, quotes, and videos.
  2. Useful Information like my frequently viewed articles about health.
  3. My essays and reviews about politicals and morals, movies and books.
  4. My art, music, and poetry.
  5. My private thoughts and feelings that I never thought I would be sharing in public!

I love, love, love hearing from you.

I post all the good things I find here in my blog hoping that you’ll find it useful too. If you do, please leave me a note sayin’ so!

History

I started this blog about 6 years ago (!) on Blogger as part of a class assignment for grad school. It started out as “My refrigerator door” which I mis-typed as “My refrigerator doot” (Thus my old tagline: “Long live the Doot, Dearie!”). After several other names, and one other hosting spot, I’ve moved to my very own url.

Inspiration for the Name

I wanted a blog where I could just follow my train of interests along from one thing to the next.  I love this poem by William Stafford and it inspired the name.

Look: no one ever promised for sure
that we would sing. We have decided
to moan. In a strange dance that
we don’t understand till we do it, we
have to carry on.Just as in sleep you have to dream
the exact dream to round out your life,
so we have to live that dream into stories
and hold them close at you, close at the
edge we share, to be right.

We find it an awful thing to meet people,
serious or not, who have turned into vacant
effective people, so far lost that they
won’t believe their own feelings
enough to follow them out.

The authentic is a line from one thing
along to the next; it interests us.

Strangely, it relates to what works,
but is not quite the same. It never
swerves for revenge,

Or profit, or fame: it holds
together something more than the world,
this line. And we are your wavery
efforts at following it. Are you coming?
Good: now it is time.

- William Stafford

Thanks for joining me for part of the ride! Choo choo!
