Why it’s important to me:

Dealing with Climate change, the dastardly villain of our times is urgent. This be serious. This is the reason for increased storms in some parts of the world and increased drought in other parts of the world. Obama and Biden have a great, aggressive plan. McCain and Palin want to calm the oil companies. No time for that, kids.

Sustainability for Peace. We fight wars over resources. We fight over energy, if it comes to it, we would fight wars over water. (That will be the next big one if something isn’t done. Many of OUR water sources are owned by foreign companies, and there are many other issues involved with water.) We need to be able to provide energy for ourselves and we should want other people to be able to sustain themselves at some level above abject poverty. Our collective sustainability is a pre-requisite for Peace. There are other pre-requisites too, but that is a big one. I don’t want any more blood even slightly on my hands. It makes me sick that people who work for a government that I support with my money are torturing people. This has got to stop.

(By the way, I was just thinking the other day that individually, living in a sustainable manner- not in debt- is also one way to enable yourself to act with integrity.)

Those are the big ones for me. I have a lot of other issues that I care about but dealing with climate change and making our way of living sustainable are the reasons it is IMPORTANT to me that Obama and Biden win.
