I loved this post, Braidwood (yikes! I almost spilled your secret identity. Better stick with the nom de plume, huh!). I felt like I was there, and doing the crying. :)

Let's see ... I remember in kindergarten the teacher shared a read-with-the-tape book about John Henry. Remember that tall tale? I have very few memories that far back, but I do (vividly) remember the last page of the book and the last sentence. If I were to read that story again -- or any number of fairy tales -- I would be moved again.

What is it about childrens' stories? There are no fancy fifty dollar words, yet the authors convey so much emotion in so few words ... who can't be moved by them? ^_^
